Best of 2017: 17 Chicago Office Cultures We Love

Part 4 of our "Best of 2017" series (previous posts here, here, and here).

Here at Buoy, considering we specialize in office perks and experiences, we care about company culture. It’s at the heart of what we do. With that in mind, we want to give some props to a few companies in Chicago who seem to understand the importance of culture more than any others (presented in alphabetical order):

AFN Logistics – with an entrepreneurial culture focusing on empowerment and teamwork, while never losing its sense of humor, this company is able to maintain a family-feeling vibe.

Avant – this company has made significant efforts to have as flat an organizational structure as possible, allowing its young workers (of which there are many) to thrive.

Brad’s Deals – stresses involvement in the Chicago community in which it is an integral member, with employees receiving paid time off to act as coaches and mentors at places like Dev Bootcamp and General Assembly.

Built In Chicago – workers cite the significant focus on values, and the company’s fully transparent leadership.

DRIVIN – while many companies provide a fully-stocked bar for their employees, few (if any) also offer a karaoke stage, lounge, and 12x12-foot gaming wall like DRIVIN does.

Envoy – while it’s nice to have cold brew coffee and kombucha on tap, what really sets Envoy apart is the company management’s liberal open-door policy.

Epsilon – regularly hosts Truly Tremendous Trivia, hosted by two Epsilonites, in which employees compete for prizes.

Hirewell – provides its top-earning workers with annual incentive trips to places like the Bahamas, Las Vegas, and the Caribbean.

Mediafly – this company’s focus is on its employees’ freedom, allowing each individual to manage their time how they please, giving everyone the opportunity to do their best work.

Peanut Butter – perhaps it should come as no surprise that this organization that helps companies offer student loan repayment plans as a benefit is amazing when it comes to helping its own employees pay down their education debt, but it makes for an awesome culture nonetheless.

PowerReviews – turning the traditional office design on its head, PowerReviews offers an unorthodox work space, complete with standing desks, couches, open-space meeting areas, a ping pong table, and pop-a-shot basketball.

Raise – has a fantastic employee of the month program, which allows the winner to pick a charity to which Raise will send its donations that month.

Relativity – doesn’t just host frequent happy hours and food events, but allows its staff to be the stars of the show, with events such as a beer brew-off or chili cook-off.

Reverb – has instruments available for spontaneous jam sessions, industry events such as Pitchfork and SXSW also double as perks for employees, and occasionally, a well-known celebrity musician may swing by the office.

RXBAR - offers many great health, wellness, and insurance benefits, but unlike literally every other company in Chicago, also provides its people with free access to an unlimited supply of its delicious RXBARs.

Solstice – this company stresses agility, and is constantly asking its employees for feedback, in the quest to always be improving.

Vivid Seats – provides employees with heavily discounted tickets to games, concerts, and all other events nationwide.

Did we miss any? Does your office also offer some of these great perks? Let us know at hi@buoynow.com!
