Chicago’s 14 Best Spots For Holiday Flavors

The temperatures are quickly dropping here in the City of Big Shoulders, and we’re all once again wondering why we don’t live in Florida or Arizona. Since we’re stuck here (for now), here are some of our favorite holiday-themed bites (and sips) in Chicago for you to bring into the office, or enjoy on your own:

  • Doughnuts are everywhere in Chicago, and so are seasonal varieties of them. You really can’t go wrong anywhere, but we especially recommend the eggnog old fashioned at Doughnut Vault and the cranberry-white chocolate at Glazed and Infused.
  • DMK is most well-known for their burgers, but don’t forget about their milkshakes! This month’s seasonal specialty flavor is the eggnog shake. Get it with or without (but seriously…get it with) booze.
  • Branch out from the classic cheese/butter/caramel Christmas tin at Wells Street Popcorn, which is offering gingerbread popcorn.
  • You can’t go wrong at Lincoln Park’s Sprinkles, featuring both chocolate peppermint and gingerbread cupcakes.
  • Though it features peppermint and eggnog flavors among its current offerings, the real star of the season at Bang Bang Pie Shop is the spiced tart cherry pie.
  • Suck it up, throw on a scarf, and grab an eggnog ice cream cone at George’s Ice Cream & Sweets in Andersonville.
  • Drop into Manny’s and load up on their always-delicious latkes.
  • Warm up at Xoco with a Mexico City Thick, a pudding-like drink similar to hot chocolate.
  • The Walnut Room at Macy’s has an abundance of seasonal specialties, including cider-glazed slow-roasted turkey, a holiday pecan chicken salad sandwich, and Frango mint cheesecake.
  • Lost Lake in Logan Square is mixing multiple types of holiday cocktails, including a twist on a classic that they’re calling the Christmopolitan.
  • Chicago has so many great breweries, but our favorite seasonal suds are Revolution’s Fistmas and Forbidden Root’s Fig Dubbel.
  • As always, the mulled wine at Christkindlmarket is on point, and we love the souvenir mugs!

Did we miss any? Be sure to let us know – hi@buynow.com. Stay warm, Chicago!
