Quick Guide to November in Chicago
November has arrived! And with it, some rather cold, grey, and blustery weather – let’s hope it’s not all an omen for a polar vortex-filled winter.
Chicago has plenty of great things to do this month, so climb out of that pile of fun-size Kit Kat and Reese’s candy wrappers, bundle up, and get out there! Here are some of our favorites:
Get enlightened by some of the numerous artists, politicians, and thinkers at the
Chicago Humanities Festival, through November 12. Take a walk through the history of all your favorite comedians and sketches at
Saturday Night Live: The Experience at the Museum of Broadcast Communications until December 30. Catch a flick or a live music performance at the
Chicago International Movies and Music Festival (November 9-12). Indulge all of your gluten- and dairy-laden dreams at
Mac & Cheese Fest, on November 4. The time of year when we drink beer to warm up, as opposed to cool down, is upon us. You won’t find more soul-warming brews than at the
Festival of Barrel Aged Beers, taking place at the UIC Forum on November 10-11. Have some blank space on your apartment wall? Fill it with some art from the
Chicago Printers Guild Publishers Fair (November 11-12). Check out the coolest sculptures around (and maybe even treat yourself to an early Christmas gift) at
SOFA Chicago (November 2-5) at Navy Pier. For those of you 21+, enjoy some Medieval-style ales and meads at the Planetarium’s Dark Ages-themed
Adler After Dark on November 16. Find the best vintage furniture, fashion, clothing, jewelry, and more at
Randolph Street Market (November 18-19). Bask in the splendor of holiday glow on Michigan Avenue at the
Magnificent Mile Lights Festival. The lights will illuminate on November 17, and remain sparkling through the holidays! Shake off Black Wednesday by racing in the
Turkey Trot 5K or 8K on Thanksgiving Day in Lincoln Park. New York’s version may get all the attention, but Chicago’s
Thanksgiving Parade is also pretty great! It kicks off at 8:00 AM on Thanksgiving Day in the Loop. It’s never too early to get in the Christmas spirit! There’s no better place to do so than at the
Christkindlmarket, opening November 17 in Daley Plaza. Throw on a scarf and pack some mulled wine for
ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo, beginning November 23. Volunteering is always important, but may just be especially so during the holidays.
Greater Chicago Food Depository and Meals on Wheels Chicago are just two of the myriad amazing organizations this city has to offer.
